Rural Women in Bathinda Thrive with Growing Beekeeping Venture

A beekeeping project in Bathinda district has empowered nearly 300 rural women, enabling them to support their families through honey production over five years. The initiative began after a nationalised bank rejected their loan application in 2021, but the women’s self-help groups (SHGs) in five villages have since developed into a women’s empowerment movement. They aim to produce 75,000 kilograms of honey valued at nearly ₹4 crore this year.
