Honey is a vital product dependent on beekeeping, with production varying among countries based on the number of hives, climatic conditions, availability of pastures and flowering crops, and the development of the beekeeping sector. A large portion of global production is concentrated in a limited number of countries with many hives and suitable areas for beekeeping.

China leads as the largest honey producer with about 444.8 thousand tons in 2024, followed by India with 146 thousand tons, Turkey with approximately 95.5 thousand tons, Ethiopia with 86 thousand tons, and Iran with 80.2 thousand tons. The list also includes Argentina, Brazil, Russia, the United States, and Mexico.
