The National Union of Beekeeping Professionals in Morocco warned of the increasing spread of the Asian hornet in several northern regions, stating that the situation is no longer isolated cases but an invasive pest requiring organized and urgent intervention to limit its expansion and protect the beekeeping sector and the ecosystem.

The union explained that the first signs of the Asian hornet in Morocco date back to October 2023, when a beekeeper discovered it near his apiary in Wadi Al-Marsa in Fahs Anjra province. In September 2024, the union received live samples caught by a beekeeper in the Kasr Al-Majaz area, with small nests found and destroyed, and other hornets spotted in Dalya and towards Little Kasr.
