Ribeirão Pires is expanding its preservation efforts for native stingless bees through the Abelhas da Mata Project, which is extending beyond the municipality's borders by installing meliponaries in various public spaces. The initiative aims to connect people with the Atlantic Forest biodiversity and emphasize pollinators' crucial role in forest maintenance, urban greenery, and food production.

The project currently manages over 20 active hives located in parks, green areas, public buildings, institutional facilities, and municipal schools. These sites provide safe habitats for native stingless bee species and serve as venues for environmental education, colony observation, and awareness about fauna and flora conservation.
