Dr. Chen Shih-hsiung, a retired agricultural expert and former president of Mingdao University, has engaged in beekeeping following his retirement. This autumn, with the abundant blooming of Taiwan goldenrain trees in Changhua, his harvest of goldenrain tree honey was substantial. Chen, who is also attentive to Taipei's mayoral election, stated that if Shen Bo-yang is elected, city residents could keep bees due to Shen's "urban micro-forest" policy, which plans extensive tree planting in the city. With appropriate tree species and private beehive installations, honey and pollen can be harvested during flowering seasons, making urban beekeeping in Taipei feasible.
