NINOVE – The city collaborates with East Flanders province and RATO vzw to control hornet nests. The Asian hornet threatens native bees and cannot be completely eradicated. Targeted local management helps reduce damage. Nests are often in hard-to-reach places, requiring special equipment and expertise. Trained staff carry out free control from May 1 to mid-October 2026.

Report a hornet nest via Vespa-Watch and follow the website instructions. A volunteer verifies the report and confirms if it concerns Asian hornets. You will receive a message from Vespa-Watch. If confirmed, RATO vzw is automatically notified and will treat the nest. In some cases, control is not possible, for example if the nest is too high. More information at Vespa-Watch.
