The initiative aims to promote the consumption of national honey, support its commercialization, and develop educational campaigns against adulterated or counterfeit products. The Beekeepers Association of Costa Rica submitted a bill proposal to declare December 7 each year as National Honey Day to promote the value chain linked to apiculture and meliponiculture production in the country. The proposal was received by deputy Karen Alfaro, president of the Agricultural Affairs Commission, according to the organization.
