The Asian hornet has now arrived in Schwerte. Nadine Batze, a wasp and hornet advisor from Schwerte, has removed Asian hornet nests several times, wearing protective clothing. Anyone spotting these insects or suspecting a nest should follow certain guidelines.
Key questions include: Does seeing an Asian hornet mean a nest is nearby? Is it safe to trim hedges now? Where do Asian hornets build their nests? What should definitely be avoided? Why should a nest be removed? Who assists with removal and who pays? The mood among beekeepers is also discussed.
