In the Altai region, a 15-year-old boy survived an attack by a brown bear at an apiary in the Solton district. The incident occurred in a forest about 20 km from the village of Solton, where the boy went with an adult friend to check beehives.

Seeing the bear, the boy tried to climb a tree, but the animal knocked him down and inflicted serious injuries. The attack stopped after the bear bit the boy's phone, which ignited and scared the animal away.

The Investigative Committee of Russia in Altai reported that the phone caused a thermal burn to the boy but saved him from further harm. The injured boy was hospitalized in serious condition with head, neck, clavicle injuries, lacerations, and burns.

A criminal case for negligence has been opened regarding the incident.
