TOMSK, October 12 – RIA Tomsk

TOMSK, October 12 – RIA Tomsk. Hunters received reports of a bear approaching apiaries in the village of Safronovo in Tomsk district and now keep watch there in the evenings. It is likely the same predator sought after following the death of a woman in Lyazgino, said Alexander Shlapakov, chairman of the animal protection committee, to RIA Tomsk.

Earlier, on October 8, the body of a woman was found near Lyazgino, presumably attacked by a bear. Specialists began searching for the bear the next day.

Shlapakov noted that the bear has not yet been shot. There are reports it came to the apiaries in Safronovo, where efforts are underway to track it in the evenings using a thermal imager. Shooting was avoided due to the risk of wounding the animal.
