On Monday afternoon, the first Asian hornet nest was removed in Zaandam. These yellow-legged hornets primarily target honey bees, but other insects can also fall victim to these large wasps. Beekeepers have raised concerns in recent months and requested action. The municipality of Zaanstad responded by deciding to remove the nests.
