In the Upper Valley of Aude, beekeepers have tested two methods to locate Asian hornet nests, including one using transmitters, reports "L'Indépendant." Three nests were recently found in Val-du-Faby and Brenac.

To find them, a small transmitter is attached to the hornet's abdomen, then tracked to its nest using a receiver, according to the source. This experiment is conducted by the Groupement de défense sanitaire des abeilles de l'Aude (GDSA 11). Among the nests discovered, one was located in a trash bin, posing a danger to residents.

The association is also testing a less costly method: several hornets are marked with colors, and the time of their trips to and from a sweet bait is measured. These data are analyzed by the Vespa Finder software to locate nests.
