Canary Islands Beekeeping Chief Convicted of Subsidy Fraud

On October 1, 2022, the president of a Canary Islands beekeepers’ association was convicted of fraudulently obtaining EU and regional subsidies using false invoices. The Central Criminal Court of the Audiencia Nacional sentenced him to a six-month suspended sentence following an indictment by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in Madrid. The ruling is now final, according to EPPO.
