Gene Network Changes in Honey Bee Nurse-to-Forager Shift

Robert E. Page Jr., a member of the National Academy of Sciences, presents new research on the nurse-to-forager transition in honey bees. Published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), the study offers a novel network-based perspective on gene expression changes during this behavioral shift. Page, a retired professor from UC Davis and Arizona State University, collaborated with Eric Bonabeau of Berkeley to analyze worker honey bee transcriptomes as gene–gene correlation systems reflecting collective regulatory states.
