Honey production in Bilecik increased from 88 tons to 221 tons

Honey production in Bilecik has increased from 88 tons to 221 tons, marking the beginning of the benefits from the support provided to beekeeping.

The Bilecik Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry is conducting health screenings and informational activities for the beekeeping enterprises located in Bilecik.

Provincial Director Necmettin Yoldaş stated, “With the Bilecik Hive Distribution Project aimed at Modern and Technical Beekeeping, the distribution of hives to our producers and the distribution of medications to combat varroa disease in bees have led to an increase in the number of hives from 11,800 in 2018 to 25,000 in 2024, and our honey production has risen from 88 tons to 221 tons.”

Products such as honey, beeswax, royal jelly, pollen, and propolis are known to have high economic value and are important food items for human health and nutrition. Risk-based official controls for beekeeping enterprises in Bilecik are carried out by the Provincial Directorate, and these inspections continue uninterrupted throughout the year.
