Reporting Varroa - April 2021

Reporting Varroa
Amendments to Bee Diseases and Pests Control Orders
Amendments to the Bee Diseases and Pests Control Orders in England, Scotland, and Wales will require beekeepers and officials to report the presence of Varroa in hives starting from April 21, 2021. This regulatory change is essential for Great Britain to comply with the Animal Health Law, ensuring future relationships with the European Union. A simple reporting mechanism through BeeBase will be introduced, with an alternative system available for those not registered. Scottish beekeepers can report Varroa by contacting the Scottish Bee Health Inspectors at BeesMailbox@gov.scot.
