Honey bee breeds will be preserved with a gene bank

Thanks to the Honey Bee Gene Bank established within the Ordu Beekeeping Research Institute, the continuity of honey bee breeds is aimed to be ensured.

The General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, in collaboration with the Turkish Beekeepers Central Union, Ondokuz Mayıs University, and Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, launched the project "Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Colonies Representing Some Bee Breeds and Genotypes Found in Turkey and Improvement in Certain Characteristics" in 2019.
