Agriculture: The target has been exceeded with a total of 283 honey forests established
The Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, General Directorate of Forestry, prepared the Honey Forest Action Plan (2013-2017) to increase Turkey's honey production quantity, improve honey yield per hive, and support the beekeeping sector. According to the plan, it was aimed to establish 54 honey forests each year, totaling 270 honey forests during the action plan period. However, there has been a realization beyond the plan, and to date (2013-2016), a total of 283 honey forests have been established in 28 different cities across Turkey. According to the regional honey forest figures from the General Directorate of Forestry for the years 2013-2016, the most honey forests were established in Mersin with 27. Following Mersin, Giresun established 16 honey forests. Bursa had 15, while Erzurum, Eskişehir, Konya, and Kütahya each had 14 honey forests established separately. In İzmir, 13 honey forests were also established. After the announcement of the Honey Forest Action Plan, honey forests were allocated and opened for use to allow both stationary and migratory honey producers in Turkey to operate comfortably.
