Beekeepers Face Mystery After Sudden Bee Deaths in Northern Italy

A mysterious bee die-off has struck northern Italy. An estimated 4 million bees have died in the area between the cities of Cremona and Brescia within two days. No one knows what has happened. The local agricultural organization describes it as a "catastrophe."

Between Friday evening and Saturday morning, 130 bee colonies were affected in a green zone approximately 6 kilometers wide between the municipalities of Villagana, Bompensiero, Azzanello, and Genivolta.
