Beekeeping Women in a 15-House Village in Şanlıurfa

Women living in a rural neighborhood of 15 houses in Şanlıurfa are contributing to beekeeping with the support and training they receive.

The interest of women in Aşağı Çiftlik Neighborhood, which is part of the Karaköprü district, in beekeeping is noteworthy. In this neighborhood, also referred to as the "beekeeping village," the women have turned beekeeping, a profession of their fathers, into a professional endeavor with the collaboration of the Şanlıurfa Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and Harran University.

The beekeeping women, who received training and hive support from the Şanlıurfa Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, have increased their number of hives tenfold in five years.
