In Ordu, traveling beekeepers are continuing their preparations to migrate to other regions in order to produce higher quality honey. Beekeeping is the second most important source of income in Ordu after hazelnuts, with 3,500 producers generating honey in approximately 600,000 hives.

Akın Çiftçi, President of the Ordu Beekeepers Union, stated that beekeeping is widespread in the city, with an average of 20,000 tons of honey produced each year. Çiftçi expressed that there are approximately 3,500 beekeepers producing in around 600,000 hives in Ordu.
