Winter Care is Essential for Bees' Survival

Beekeepers in Ordu have begun winter care activities to prevent colony losses. In Ordu, where the highest honey production in Turkey takes place, there are 3,500 registered beekeepers and approximately 10,000 families rely on the beekeeping sector for their livelihood. After completing the honey season, which lasts about 5 months following spring maintenance, beekeepers start their preparations for the winter season. These activities are carried out to prevent losses in colonies and honey yield, primarily due to varroa disease.
