Beekeeping Season 2024 in Spain: More Honey and More Invasive Wasps

Spain reviews the beekeeping season 2024. Beekeepers leave behind the poor harvest figures of past years, but continue to report competition from low-quality honeys and face new dangers, such as the Asian hornet.

After the poor harvests of 2022 and 2023, the beekeeping season 2024 has brought better news for most Spanish beekeepers. Overall, the harvest is much better, and the main beekeeping regions have collected honey as in a normal season. However, beekeepers also have reasons for discontent due to the influx of low-quality honey from outside the European Union and the growing threat of the Asian hornet in southern Spain.
