Ordu Honey Opens Up to the World

While 20 thousand tons of honey are exported from Ordu every year, recently 10 tons of honey were sent to England. The honey produced by the hardworking beekeepers of Ordu, tested in the honey packaging facility and analysis laboratory established within the Ordu Beekeeping Research Institute, is exported to 55 countries around the world. The President of the Ordu Beekeepers Association, Akın Çiftçi, stated that 10 tons of honey were recently exported to England and that the export figures have been increasing each year. In Ordu, 3,500 registered beekeepers, with a total of 600,000 hives, support approximately 10,000 families who earn their livelihood from the beekeeping sector.
