Professor elected as the Chair of the European Bee Health Scientific Committee: I was a larva, now I am a queen bee

Prof. Dr. Aslı Özkırım, a faculty member of the Biology Department at Hacettepe University and the Director of the Bee and Bee Products Application and Research Center (HARÜM), has been elected as the Chair of the Bee Health Scientific Committee of the European Beekeeping Federation (EBA), which has 358,962 members from 40 countries. Prof. Dr. Özkırım stated that she has always faced challenges as a female academic in the field of beekeeping, saying, "In my early studies, when I asked a question, beekeepers would respond to the men next to me. When they had something to explain, they would explain it to the man beside me. Back then, I was a bee larva. Now I am a queen bee."
