Objection to the Quarry Project in Rize

Kazım Delal, one of the village residents who filed a lawsuit at the Rize Administrative Court against the Rize Governorate's decision of "Environmental Impact Assessment is not required" regarding the quarry and water dam project that the Rize Municipality and the State Hydraulic Works (DSI) want to implement in the Çağrankaya Valley, stated, "420 thousand tons of material will be extracted by blasting rock with dynamite. All the pastures and settlements here will be covered in dust, and no living being can withstand this. Streams have dried up, nature has deteriorated, there is no longer beekeeping, livestock farming, grazing, or even a trace of greenery left in nature; just think about it, let go of our necks."
