Spanish Beekeepers Protest Against Honey Fraud

Spanish beekeepers are worried. This week they took to the streets, just like their French and Portuguese counterparts, to raise their voices before the European Commission against honey fraud. The sector sees its survival threatened by the massive importation of syrups, sugar solutions, and honey substitutes. According to a report by the Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Agricultores y Ganaderos (COAG), 46% of the analyzed European samples were fraudulent, with an alarming 51% in Spain.
