Saudi Arabia hands over five beekeeping projects worth 48.2 million riyals

Saudi Arabia's Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Programme, Reef Saudi, handed over five beekeeping and honey production projects to the non-profit Reef Foundation on 19 October 2026. The projects are worth more than 48.2 million riyals in total.
According to programme spokesman Majed Al-Braikan, the projects involve setting up queen-rearing and package bee stations in Tabuk, Jazan, Medina, Hail and Taif. The stations have a capacity of 300 to 500 queen bees and can produce 300 packages a year.
The projects are expected to increase the number of local bee colonies, protect native bee strains, create new jobs and train workers in modern beekeeping methods. The aim is to reduce reliance on imports and support food security in line with Vision 2030.
