Heerlen refuses to remove a large Asian hornet nest near the Heksenberg neighborhood

Heerlen refuses to remove a large Asian hornet nest near the Heksenberg neighborhood. The municipal council states that complete eradication of this invasive wasp in the Netherlands is unrealistic. The municipality only removes nests that pose a danger to the surroundings, which is not the case for the nest on municipal land at Heksenberg due to its distance from homes and paths. The chance of disturbance and sting incidents is considered minimal.
