In Monleone di Cicagna, part of the Val Fontanabuona municipality near Genoa, a large nest of the Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) was destroyed. Residents reported the nest due to concerns about attacks and stings, which can be fatal for allergic individuals or if multiple stings occur. Volunteers from the beekeeping association AlpaMiele intervened at sunset, confirmed the presence of the queen inside, and injected insecticide into the nest using a long metal-tipped pole.
