While the Netherlands focuses on the wolf, the Asian hornet is spreading rapidly. This invasive species mainly targets insects like honey bees. At Dutch Design Week, Accenture presented a smart trap using AI to recognize hornets and eventually help locate their nests.

Opinions on the wolf vary widely, with much media attention especially after sheep attacks. The smaller, flying Asian hornet worries ecologists and beekeepers due to its expansion in the country.

The challenge is to control this invasive hornet without harming other insects. Accenture developed The Hornet Trap, a device with a camera and AI that distinguishes Asian hornets from other insects, capturing only the hornets.
